Dr. Alizai is a board certified psychiatrist specializing in the evaluation and treatment of individuals suffering with mental health problems. She works with people residing in Colorado, DC, and Maryland.
Dr. Alizai grew up in Montgomery County, Maryland. She attended the Holton-Arms School and then Georgetown University. She went on to the Georgetown University School of Medicine, after which she moved to Baltimore to complete her residency training in psychiatry at Johns Hopkins Hospital. She continued her training further by pursuing a fellowship in forensic psychiatry at the University of Maryland.
After completing her training, Dr. Alizai began working at the Clifton T. Perkins Hospital Center. While working at Perkins, she served as the Director of Admissions and the Director of the Forensic Psychiatry Fellowship Program for the University of Maryland, based at Perkins. In 2006, Dr. Alizai began a private practice, where she has been working since.
Dr. Alizai is an expert in the diagnosis and treatment of a variety of mental illnesses. She has an extensive and nuanced knowledge base regarding depression, bipolar disorder and anxiety disorders. She has a great interest in helping manage mental health issues in women who are pregnant, planning on becoming pregnant, or are in the post-partum period.
